Please, we urge you to take this very seriously.
It’s not just about protecting our beloved precious cabin but neighbouring farms and the livelihoods of the community, as well as protecting the natural environment.
Indoor fireplace – please don’t overload the unit unnecessarily. When making the fire and lighting it, close the door and open the vent by pulling the silver latch towards you. Once it’s going, you can close the vent by shifting the latch in, away from you. For your safety, please don’t leave anything near the fireplace that could catch alight.
When making a fire in the outside fire boma, please be extremely vigilant. The wind can often pick up in the evening, and the surrounding vegetation is extremely flammable, especially in the warmer months. Please always keep an eye on the fire if you are away from the boma. Do not leave the cabin if there is an active fire. When you decide to go head to bed, ensure the fire is completely out. Use the nearby hoses under the deck to extinguish the fire. Please be responsible and remain extremely vigilant when there is an active fire
There are two fire extinguishers in the cabin. The first is beside the indoor fireplace, and the second is in the long kitchen cupboard. In the same long cupboard, there is a fire blanket for use in case of an oil fire. Do not use the fire extinguisher on an oil fire, as this will spread the oil and fuel the fire.
For minor injuries, a first aid kit is located in the cupboard with the fire blanket.
