General Housekeeping
The solar fairy lights around the fire boma come on automatically in the evening. If you’d like to turn off the lights, simply lean over the wall or walk on the outside of the boma to find the solar box, then turn them off and/or adjust the settings to your preference.
Please do not throw any foreign objects or non-eco-friendly products down the toilet, as everything is broken down and fed into the land. This may cause blockages and harm the natural environment. Also, avoid disposing of food waste down the kitchen drain, as it may cause blockages and inconvenience your stay
We have two bins for you during your stay. Your inside bin for waste and the bin outside is for recycling. Please, may we ask that you rinse out all items before disposing of them for us to recycle.
If the wind picks up, please put down the umbrellas so they don’t blow over. The wind can pick up in the afternoon for a few hours.
If there are any damages to the cabin during your stay, please be considerate guests and let us know.

Kitchen Amenities
Our self-catering cabins are equipped with everything you need to cook up a storm during your stay. The cabin includes a gas hob, gas braai, outdoor fire boma, and an air fryer.
We provide the following essentials:
Olive oil, balsamic vinegar, teas, coffees, sugar and coffee pods.
Fire Heated Hot Tub
If you’d like to use the fire-heated hot tub, please note that it will take between 2-4 hours to get to the desired temperature of between 30 – 40 degrees.
Start by making a small fire in the bottom of your stove with bits of kindling and blitz. Slowly get this fire going before introducing larger pieces of wood.
Once your fire is going add some larger logs and allow them to burn until sufficient coals have accumulated.
Now, using a prong, push the hot coals underneath the pipes of the main stove compartment – this is where most of the heat transference takes place.
Keep adding logs to the main fire compartment as necessary, shifting any coals that have accumulated underneath the pipes.
The heat of the tub is regulated by the quantity of wood you use to stoke the fire.
After approximately 2-4 hours the water in your tub should be warm and ready for you to enjoy.
Glass Sliding Doors
Click the link to watch our tutorial here.
Please ensure that the wooden door stoppers are placed in front of the sliding doors and that they are latched at all times when the doors are open. This will help prevent them from slamming and breaking, as the wind can pick up unexpectedly.
When the little black handle is facing down, the doors are locked. To unlock them, rotate the handle until it faces up.
Grab the handle of the door and push the panel to the left or right, depending on how the door opens. Then, push it slightly upward and forward to open it. Ensure that the latch at the top aligns with the eye and can open through it. Please do not force this. Follow the same process with the next panel, sliding it and repeating the steps as needed. If the door is sticking, you can slightly lift it while pushing the panel out to open it.
Please remember to latch and use the door stoppers at all times
Solar Power
We are off the grid and solar-powered, so please be mindful of your power usage during your stay and do not overload the system to ensure you have power, especially on overcast days. Things to consider to ensure you have uninterrupted power throughout your stay:
-
Avoid using a hairdryer as it draws too much power.
-
Do not use the air fryer for extended periods or for slow cooking.
-
Be mindful of overnight charging of electronic devices and rather do this during the day.
-
Firewood
Each booking includes an allocation of free firewood and blitz for the duration of your stay. If you run out of wood, don’t worry, as we have more stored on the premises that you can purchase.
Send us a message on WhatsApp, and we’ll explain how to access it on the property. Each bag costs R40, and you can make payment via SnapScan or EFT if you don’t have the app.

Fire Safety: Rules to Follow
Please, we urge you to take this very seriously.
It’s not just about protecting our beloved precious cabin but neighbouring farms and the livelihoods of the community, as well as protecting the natural environment.
Indoor fireplace – please don’t overload the unit unnecessarily. When making the fire and lighting it, close the door and open the vent by pulling the silver latch towards you. Once it’s going, you can close the vent by shifting the latch in, away from you. For your safety, please don’t leave anything near the fireplace that could catch alight.
When making a fire in the outside fire boma, please be extremely vigilant. The wind can often pick up in the evening, and the surrounding vegetation is extremely flammable, especially in the warmer months. Please always keep an eye on the fire if you are away from the boma. Do not leave the cabin if there is an active fire. When you decide to go head to bed, ensure the fire is completely out. Use the nearby hoses under the deck to extinguish the fire. Please don’t risk starting a fire and damaging the natural environment and animals on the farm.
There are two fire extinguishers at the cabin. The first is by the back door next to the kitchen, and the second is in the green cupboard by the glass stacking doors. In the cleaning cupboard, there is a fire blanket in case of an oil fire. If there is an oil fire, do not use the fire extinguisher as it will spread the oil and the fire, thereby fueling it.
For all minor injuries, there is a medical aid kit in the cleaning cupboard.
